AERIAL ARTS FAQs & REMINDERS

  • How do I enroll in class?
Please sign up ahead of time at rockgym.com/aerial or by calling the front desk at 831.899.2595

  • When is payment for classes expected?
Full payment for the class-series is due before the first class. If spots are available in Open Fly training, you can pay the day you attend.

  • Tell me about the 4 week series classes:

  • Class Series Guidelines:

    • 4-Week Class Series: Each session runs for four consecutive weeks.

    • Series Schedule: Classes follow a set schedule each week, and attendance is expected for the full series.

    • No Make-ups: There are no make-up classes, except in the event that the instructor needs to cancel a class.

    • Open Fly Passes: Every 4-week series includes 2 additional open fly passes, allowing students to practice independently outside of class time. Additional Open Fly passes do not roll over into the next series calender.

    • What should I wear or bring to class?
Please wear comfortable workout clothing. Leggings, a leotard or other snug fitting clothing are preferred for aerial classes. Please cover your knees, arms, armpits, mid-drift & back for the most comfort and to avoid friction burns from the apparatus.  Please do not wear any jewelry, zippers, rhinestones, sequins or anything else that may damage the apparatus.  Please do not wear any strong scented lotions or perfumes to class. Always bring a reusable water bottle to class.

    • What if I’m running late to class?
Late attendance is discouraged. Warm-ups are extremely important to class; therefore, students will not be permitted to attend if they arrive more than 10 minutes late.

    • What if I can’t make it to a pre-paid class?
Reservations are required to hold your place in all class series.  There are no makeups for individual students. However, if an instructor has to cancel a class then a makeup will be scheduled.

    • What is the minimum or maximum age to participate?
There is no maximum age to participate, but students must be at least 18 years+  to participate in the adult classes. We offer Kids classes ages 8-12 years and Teens classes 13-17 years.  Check out the Youth classes here.

    • Are family members or friends allowed to watch?
Spectators are only allowed with children ages 8-12 please.

    • Can anyone take classes?
Yes! As long as students meet the minimum age requirements, everyone is welcome to attend. SC&F is dedicated to building a space that is welcome to every body and everyone!

    • How do I know if I am ready to move up a level?
Each apparatus has its own set of pass-off requirements. Talk to your instructor for more details. Read more below about our SC&F levels.

    • Do you offer private lessons?
Yes. Please leave your contact info with our front desk staff so we can arrange a class with our instructors. Check out our instructors schedule here and sign up for a private or semi-private.

    • How do I get the most benefits from aerial classes?
We recommend keeping a consistent workout schedule so that you are learning everything you need to know and maintaining skills. It is also a good idea to stretch regularly, and if possible, cross-training to maintain strength, such as climbing!! :-)

      Class/Skill Levels

All aerial classes are for ages 18 and up unless specified in class descriptions.

Note about class levels: Please understand the importance of developing strength and proper technique to succeed in aerial arts classes. If you are unsure about your level, please sign up for a beginner class so that an instructor can help assess your current abilities. If you are not sure, please email us and we’ll get back to you.

      Beginner

For the students new to aerial arts who are building strength and learning basic skills. You must take at least 6+ beginner classes before moving to advance beginning. Please ask your instructor if you are able to move to the next level.

(Side note that we do not offer Beginning Rope classes. We recommend taking Beginning Silks first, where you will gather the same necessary prerequisites needed for Rope.  Once you have the necessary prerequisites, you may then take the Advanced Beginning Rope/Silk fusion classes.)

      Advanced Beginning

For students that have an understanding of the basics of the apparatus and have been signed off by your current and future instructors. You can ask your instructor if you are ready to move to this level.

      Intermediate

For students that have mastered the basics.

      Beginner Advanced

Upper level classes that are suited for the student who has mastered the basics and can perform all necessary foundational skills without any guidance.

      All Levels

For students from Advanced Beginner to Advanced.
