Thanks for stopping by our web site. Located a few blocks off the Monterey Peninsula’s sandy shores in sunny central California, we’re the central coast’s most user-friendly Indoor Climbing Gym (or so we like to think). If you live in the area and you think you might be interested in learning how to climb, stop on by and see what it’s all about. If you’re planning a visit to the area, check us out, either to climb with us for the day or to get beta on the regional outdoor climbing scene. Whether you like to boulder, top-rope or lead-climb, we’re the place to go.

In Memory of Chris Chan

Chris Chan climbed briefly at Sanctuary in the late summer of 2009, she died descending from Eichorn Pinnacle in Tuolumne Meadows on Friday July 9th.  Among her many accomplishments, Chris had most recently aid-soloed The Shield and Tangerine Trip on El Capitan in Yosemite Valley. Chris e-mailed me last week in anticipation of a trip to Monterey in August.  An amazing climber and great person, she made a tremendous impact even on those she knew for a short while, she will be missed.
